Red light therapy is thought to work by acting on the “power plant” in your body’s cells called mitochondria. With more energy, other cells can do their work more efficiently, such as repairing skin, boosting new cell growth and enhancing skin rejuvenation. More specifically, certain cells absorb light wavelengths and are stimulated to work.
Red light therapy may work in skin health to:
Stimulate collagen production, which gives skin its structure, strength and elasticity.
Increase fibroblast production, which makes collagen. Collagen is a component of connective tissue that builds skin.
Increase blood circulation to the tissue.
Reduce inflammation in cells.

This solution must remain on your skin for 10 hours or longer. If you rinse it off before that, it may be lighter than anticipated. This solution is great if you know you won't have time to shower 2-3 hours after application.
The rapid solution takes the same amount of time to develop as traditional spray tan solution, but the set time is much shorter. Meaning, your final color will take the same amount of time to appear, but you can shower much sooner (typically within 2-3 hours after application). This has to be rinsed off when you are told to achieve the desired color, because the longer it sets on your skin, the darker it gets.
We recommend showering, shaving & exfoliating between 4-24 hours before your appointment, for the best results, its not a deal breaker if you need to take a quick rinse within the hours leading up to your appointment. We do ask that you DO NOT shave or use any heavy products in said shower. Light lotion is still ok on face and body afterwards. Please make sure your hair is not sopping wet and your body has time to cool down and dry.
Shaving is highly recommended 4-24hrs PRIOR to your spray tan appointment.
1. If hair is course it can sink into the hair follicle if the shave is too fresh.
2. Certain products can leave a residue that will block the tan. 4-24 hours is enough time for the residue to wear off & for the follicle to fill. Shaving during the life of your spray tan is perfectly fine. MAKE SURE YOU USE A FRESH RAZOR. A dull razor will strip the tan.
I recommend a light lotion on the skin & face to hydrate the skin. What is not recommended is heavy creams, oils, products. Dry skin is a no no!
Yes! After each shower it is highly recommended to moisturize well to prevent dry skin, which can cause flaking which can cause uneven fading. Do not skimp on hydrating the skin. Use lotion that is more natural. Avoid mineral oil, petroleum & alcohol on ingredients list. MUST BE PARABAN FREE!
Prior to tan appointment have all makeup removed. 1. Thicker makeup may block the tan. 2. You will not be able to wash your face for a full set time which could be overnight. 3. No liquid makeup until after 1st rinse. Anything powder or mascara/lipstick is fine. But remember you cannot wash for full
It is recommended to only use a warm water FULL rinse on your 1st shower as you do not want any ingredient disruptions while your tan continues to develop. Washing privates & armpits with soap are ok!
Working out is fine after the 1st rinse. Throughout the life of of your spray tan we recommend wearing looser sports clothing as the sweating & rubbing on skin can wear the tan. After sweating, it is always recommended to rinse the sweat off as it is sitting on the skin can cause fading in that area. Blend, blend, blend!!
Absolutely! Vacation is the best for a spray tan! Sitting in hot, salty, chlorine water CAN have a quicker fade result but not if you just take a dip! It will not completely strip the tan when you get in the water either. The longer you soak the faster it will fade. Tan extending products help this!!
1. Prior to 1st rinse, if you get wet, sweaty, or ANYTHING happens- BLEND IT OUT with a dry soft towel or fabric. The flaw will rinse/ buff out in your 1st shower.
2. During the life of your tan you can use a wet blending technique in your shower with a washcloth & soap. DO NOT SCRUB, but simply blend out the flawed area.
Lotion: avoid mineral oil, sulfates & alcohol denat in your ingredients list.
Body wash: sulfate free and paraban free are key for long lasting results! The more natural the better! NO DOVE!!
Sunscreen: lotion is typically fine. Avoid alcohol in aerosol as this can wipe the tan right off. There are a few products we sell that are safe.
Face: avoid exfoliating, anti aging products etc as this will cause early fading.
We use Aviva products for airbrush tanning. These products are alcohol, fragrance, oil, cruelty, and paraben free. These vegan products are made with natural and organic ingredients. The solution fades pretty evenly and is not sticky. It feels dry quickly.
The solution is made of of several ingredients. The color you see when first applied is a bronzer that will wash off when you shower (hence the brown water). This bronzer is mainly for the technician to see where they have already sprayed, but with Aviva products, the bronzer is designed to match the future tan. The ingredient that makes you tan long after the bronzer is washed away is called DHA. The DHA starts to develop the moment it touches your skin. It goes on clear and darkens over a period of 10+ hours.
